Strathroy, Ontario – April 4, 2023 – Middlesex Hospital Alliance (MHA) today announced the launch of SeamlessMD, a Digital Care Journey Platform that has been widely adopted across North America by leading health systems, to enhance the delivery of digital care. For MHA, comprised of two fully accredited partner sites, Four Counties Health Services and Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital with over 500 physicians, employees and volunteers serving the community, SeamlessMD’s patient-centric technology will deliver an elevated digital experience that guides patients undergoing Hip and Knee surgery step-by-step through their surgical journey.
“Our collaboration with SeamlessMD is integral to our mission of creating a more integrated approach to patient care through tech advancement,” shares Dr. Vaishnav Rajgopal, Orthopedic Surgeon, Middlesex Hospital Alliance. “SeamlessMD provides our care teams with the ability to remotely monitor patients and track patient reported outcomes to help us prevent post-operative complications while helping patients feel safe and connected to their care team, reduce ED visits and phone calls, and improve overall quality of care.”
With SeamlessMD, patients undergoing surgery at MHA are guided from pre-surgical preparation through post-surgical recovery via personalized education, progress-tracking, and post-op symptom monitoring using their own device (e.g. smartphone, tablet, computer). After surgery while recovering at home, patients can access education and self-report data such as pain scores, symptoms, range-of-motion, opioid consumption, and share photos of their wounds through the platform remotely. Meanwhile, providers can monitor patients on dashboards and receive alerts for serious concerns, allowing for faster intervention if necessary.
“We are excited to launch SeamlessMD Digital Care Journeys to offer an effective enhancement to in-person care that will help us optimize the patient experience,” said Maureen Loft, Nurse Practitioner / Clinical Nurse Specialist, Middlesex Hospital Alliance. “With SeamlessMD, we can ensure patients are receiving personalized education and recommendations at the right time so they can better self-manage, track their recovery progress and seek help when needed, and enable us to provide that help more quickly.”
In addition to automating patient engagement, SeamlessMD furthers MHA’s goal of strengthening opioid tracking and management. Patients can take opioid risk-scoring surveys on the user-friendly platform and care teams can monitor opioid usage among patients who have undergone similar surgical procedures.
“SeamlessMD is delighted to partner with MHA to deliver Digital Care Journeys to their hip and knee surgery patients,” says Dr. Joshua Liu, CEO and Co-founder, SeamlessMD. “We recognize MHA’s commitment to further quality of care in the community and this partnership is the result of a shared vision to launch solutions that prioritize the delivery of convenient, efficient, and effective healthcare that empower both patients and care teams.”
